The detention centre is run for the Home Office by Care and Custody, a division of the Serco with Practice Plus Group providing healthcare services to all residents since September 2021..HoursOur Mental health team normally work 9 am to 5 pm with rota’d weekend cover. Golden Hello – £3,000 (£1,000 in 6 months of service, £1,000 after 12 months and £1,000 after 24 months of service – conditions apply).How will we support you?Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkRegional and national career development opportunitiesOur bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needsSupport from the wider teamPlease note, in order to apply for a position at Gatwick IRC , all applicants need to have been living in the United Kingdom (with residency in the UK, such as UK/Irish/EU Passport, or an Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa)for the last 3 years with no more than a 28 day break being outside of the UK and no gaps in employment during this time.Main duties of the jobAs a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work as part of an integrated mental health team, responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients mental health needs within the Immigration Removal Centre (IRC).
  • You will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • You will contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • You will play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

  • Registered nurse Mental Health
  • Current professional qualification (NMC)
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
