You will have the opportunity to grow your career while developing personally and professionally through various resources and programmes.The Senior Operational Risk Manager is part of the second line of defence (2LoD), supporting and challenging to the business in its management of non-financial risks. The individual provides experienced support to deliver the risk strategy and culture for the firm. As part of the matrix model between Brown Shipley and its parent, Quintet, the role-holder will regularly contribute to and collaborate on the development and implementation of a groupwide approach to managing risk.Key Accountabilities

  • Provide senior support to the CRO in the delivery of the risk agenda, and act as key delegate for operational risk matters.
  • Drive the delivery and embedding of the risk framework and policies and, as a thought leader, collaborate in the ongoing development of its core components, including but not limited to risk events management, key risk indicators, risk assessments, action tracking, and risk reporting.
  • Provide influential and insightful analysis to support the effective management of risks by the first line of defence (1LoD).
  • Act as a risk steward and subject matter expert, providing expert advice, guidance and independent challenge to enable safe and sustainable delivery of our strategy through effective identification, assessment and management of risks.
  • Provide effective risk reporting, focusing on the key risks faced by the business and assessing those risks against risk appetite to recommend appropriate action to be taken or inform decision making.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders through pro-active engagement, providing influence and on-going education to become a trusted, strategic business partner.
  • Drive the embedding of a strong risk culture.
  • Develop and deliver risk training tailored to the needs and priorities of the business.
  • Support the identification, assessment, reporting and monitoring of emerging risks.
  • Provide expert opinion and lead on the development and delivery of action plans in response to regulatory change and communication relevant to the function.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the non-financial risk aspects of the ICAAP and relevant regulatory submissions, in accordance with industry best practice.
  • Represent the Risk team in committees and forums, where requested by the CRO.
  • Support and supervise other members of the operational risk team.
  • Maintain an approach of continual personal development, keeping up to date with current best practice. Participate in external events and forums, ensuring that external insights are shared and leveraged.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Significant experience working in enterprise or operational risk within financial services, with a background in private banking, asset and/or wealth management
  • Deep understanding of the key components of a risk framework and the three lines of defence model
  • Strong communicator, comfortable proactively engaging with staff across all departments and levels
  • Strong understanding of regulatory landscape
  • Experience working in a matrixed, group environment (beneficial)
