What is the opportunity?
As part of a high performing team, you will ensure the operational and administrative effectiveness for RBC Global Asset Management Inc, as well as support cost controls and operational efficiencies for the RBC Mutual Funds. You will be responsible for the valuation and reporting of unit prices for assigned Mutual Funds within fixed deadlines enabling the unitholder systems to properly calculate the value of client’s holdings and process mutual fund transactions. What will you do?
Ensure all transactions (i.e. unitholder subscriptions and redemptions, management fees, expense accruals, security trades) are entered in an accurate and timely manner into the accounting system.
Reconcile each portfolio daily to ensure that cash, security, and unit positions correctly reflect the client’s holdings
Ensure corporate actions are entered into the accounting system and reflect all relevant securities and tax regulations, analyze market value impacts of corporate actions
Analyze daily fund activity, trade discrepancies against market data and report daily fund prices and income factors to unitholder systems and external sources for publication
Review and sign-off on daily fund prices and income factor delivery to internal/external parties
Research, analyze and validate daily price discrepancies within valuation policy; Review and sign-off on daily price discrepancies breaching valuation policy thresholds
Create and implement solutions to streamline Valuations processes
Maintaining internal procedures/policies to ensure controls are followed.
Train staff on operational processes and lead senior staff with daily process queries
Lead reporting activities including taking on ad-hoc requests
Work on specialized projects including Eagle Investment and Electra systems
Assist in the creation of semi-annual and annual mutual fund financial statements
Assist in periodic tax distribution calculations for all mutual fund types
What you need to succeed?
Must have:
Post-Secondary education in Finance or related field
4+ years relevant industry experience
Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication, time management and problem solving skills
Practical knowledge of financial products, Mutual Fund valuation and general ledger system.
Experience with derivatives and corporate action processing
Experience with MS Excel, Access, VBA/Macros, SQL, Tableau and database queries.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice to have:
Completion of CIM or CFA Level 2
working towards Finance/Accounting designation, ie. CPA
Knowledge of Electra Recon and Eagle Investment Systems
Experience with pricing/data applications Bloomberg and Thomson One Financial, etc.
Basic accounting skills, corporate action knowledge and cash management experience
