About the role:
Astute’s Renewables team is retained by a progressive renewable energy provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability to recruit a Solar Operations Manager for its newly acquired solar business.
The strategically important Solar Operations Manager role comes with a salary up to £80,000, pension, private healthcare and more.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the CEO you will:
- Plan, implement and supervise the day-to-day operation of the business
- Manage direct reports and ensure that they are delivering on objectives and in-turn are managing their own teams effectively (total of 20 people in the business)
- Recruit, develop and motivate team, including flexible contractor resource
- Working with senior management and the group’s Health & Safety Manager, ensure that health & safety is well managed across the business
- Be a member of, and provide regular operational reports to, the Executive Board raising issues that need senior management attention and resolution
- Support sales team with winning new business, specifications and pricing to secure new business and maximise conversions whilst maintaining profitability
- Ensure that customer experience is first class from initial enquiry to handover of completed works
- Support scheduling and installation teams to deliver projects on time and with minimum disruption to customers whilst maximising efficiency of the installation teams
- Support the operations team in negotiations with suppliers about products, service and pricing
- Ensure inventory is well managed to keep working capital under control whilst enabling install works to proceed efficiently
- Regularly review and monitor processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
- Keep abreast of product and industry innovation to ensure that the business offers the most appropriate solutions to clients
- Liaise with Head Office teams on matters such as finance and HR
- Other duties as required
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Demonstrable experience in Solar – Essential
- Electrical background – Desirable
- Previous experience of running an operational team – Essential
Personal skills:
The Solar Operations Manager role would suit someone who is:
- Passionate about solar and renewable energy
- Organised and capable of dealing with multiple projects simultaneously
- An excellent communicator, both to senior management and delegates
- Innovative and forward thinking, this role will require you to provide solutions and troubleshoot potential issues, as well as strategize for the future of the business.
