As a Senior Reactor Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Ensuring the safe decommissioning, maintenance, and defueling preparations of nuclear submarines within conventional, radiological, and nuclear safety standards as part of a dedicated team.Day-to-day, you’ll be coordinating a skilled team to carry out production tasks and nuclear procedures in accordance with the work specification or nuclear procedure logic.
- Ensure team qualifications and training for tasks.
- Maintain workplace and personnel health and safety.
- Comply with nuclear and radiation safety under site license and authorisation conditions.
- Lead planning and coordination of reactor production activities.
- Support planning and execution of maintenance activities.
Please note that this position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces.This position also involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard.Essential experience of the Senior Reactor Engineer
- Experience in radiological controlled areas or on submarines.
- Background in Health and Safety and nuclear safety.
- Understanding of mechanical processes/systems related to nuclear steam raising plants, with experience leading maintenance work packages.
- Proven leadership in managing teams for multiple maintenance activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Qualifications for the Senior Reactor Engineer
- BTEC National / ONC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification / experience.
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
