Requisition ID: 210668Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Senior Registered Products Administrator is accountable for various processes and procedures relating to the operation of Tax Free Savings, First Home Savings Registered Retirement Savings and Locked in plans across all business lines and for transactions requested by the field. The incumbent is responsible to ensure the various accountabilities are processed to the highest standards, as per regulatory requirements under the Income Tax Act (overseen by Canada Revenue Agency) and various provincial acts. The focus of the position includes communications with the front-office staff regarding client transactions for registered plans such as answering questions related to legislation and governing rules for all types of registered plans, as well as inquiries related to processes and procedures for transactions, including correct forms to complete. The incumbent is required to review transaction requests and any accompanying documentations to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to the incumbent processing said items.This is a 12-Month contract position.Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Serve as the primary contact for business line branches; receive phone calls, emails, and written correspondence on inquiries regarding legislation, rules, process, and procedures for various types of registered products (RRSP, LRSP, LIRA, TFSA, FHSA etc.) and respond within set timeframes consistent to firm policies and/or legislative rules
  • Review and process withdrawals, transfers and transactions and review all documentation provided by the field prior to completion of the transactions
  • Review remitted forms to process request, ensuring calculations are accurate as to the type of requests and allowable within set governmental limits
  • Review and process “unlocking” transactions by reviewing required government and firm documents prior to processing such withdrawals, ensuring the accuracy of the calculation of the withdrawals
  • Review and analyze problems, propose best solutions, and act on corrections as agreed to by the field, raising issues/proposed solutions to their Assistant Manager or Manager for further review or actions when required
  • Issue duplicate and amended tax receipts for contributions or transfers as requested by the field
  • Review exception/non-exception reports as assigned to ensure that transactions processed adhere to Scotia Capital, iTRADE and Scotiatrust procedures, as well as CRA rules and regulations
  • Actively participate in annual projects such as TFSA Rejects and RIF Rollover
  • Be responsible for sundry duties as assigned

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Post Secondary Education
  • Business education and/or investment industry experience
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is an Asset
  • Knowledge of Registered Products
  • Working knowledge of Broadridge and Webpost
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and projects and process high volumes of transactions
  • Must be self-starter and independent task oriented, to work with minimum supervisor based on guidance from senior management
  • Familiarity with regulatory/compliance aspects of registered retirement programs
  • Strategic, analytical think and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication both verbal and written and strong interpersonal skills
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and strong organizational skills, with a focus on attention to detail and efficiency
  • A focus on client service
  • Strong decision-making skills
