Job Description :Mitchell is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join its Regulatory Affairs Compliance team. In this role you will be primarily responsible for monitoring regulatory activities of Workers’ Compensation and PIP No-Fault fee schedules applicable to medical bill review. In addition to monitoring fee schedule changes, legislative and regulatory changes to state reporting, eBilling etc. will also be monitored. We are seeking candidates who will, under regular supervision, communicate with regulatory entities and vendors via telephone, email, and in writing regarding Workers Compensation and Auto PIP fee schedule and legislative changes. Duties include obtaining regulations and/or legislative changes, notify and distribute information to the appropriate development and implementation teams, and regularly provide needed information to the various departments within the company. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to perform research and analysis on all related topics, and maintain documentation pertaining to such.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contact state entities/vendors via telephone, email or, in writing regarding all state fee schedule and legislative changes, monitor jurisdictional websites for changes.
- Research and obtain fee schedule updates, reporting, and eBilling changes to the appropriate parties in a time-sensitive fashion. Store the changes in a central repository.
- Use company-provided tools to monitor state web sites and review the updated information to determine if changes are needed for implementation and compliance of the Mitchell products (SmartAdvisor etc.)
- Build relationships with the state contacts or vendors.
- Perform research using the state documentation and web sites, and obtain information pertaining to fee schedule, state reporting, PPO legislation, EOB, eBilling changes etc.
- Contribute documentation and articles for the company’s monthly customer newsletter compliance communications.
- Research and complete research projects on various industry topics.
- Maintain and post internal documents on the company intranet.
- Gather and coordinate quarterly reporting numbers for outside vendors.
- Handle purchase orders for compliance-related information.
- Compile research information and all outside communication on various research topics to store in a central repository.
- Provide answers to questions from internal staff regarding state regulatory/legislative research changes.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
- The ability to write clear and concise documentation.
- The ability to perform extensive research using the Internet, company tools and through contacting state officials.
- The ability to use applications to perform research.
- Must have professional phone skills.
- A research background is a plus as well as a background in either healthcare or bill review.
- Knowledge and use of Word, Excel, Azure DevOps and Salesforce.
- Use of search engine tools.
Physical Requirements for Essential Functions
- Must be able to work eight hours a day, sit for long periods during the day;
- Type or work at a keyboard most of the day;
- View a computer monitor for long periods of time while reading online statutory and rule language;
- The ability to speak on the telephone with state entities\vendors in a professional manner.
Qualifications:Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5 years of industry experience with a background in workers’ compensation, healthcare, managed care or bill review.
