The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational & numeracy skills and have the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels to provide an efficient, comprehensive financial and administrative service, enabling the smooth and safe operation of the department on a day-to-day basis.Main duties of the job*Raise invoices for and monitor payment of study related expenses.*Support the financial administration of grants, including monitoring and reporting.*Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to support grant management and study related expenses.*Prepare financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.*Preparing and circulating agreed regular and ad-hoc research financial reports to management and budget-holders to support financial control and decision making.*Administering designated aspects of the departments financial systems.*Monitor and raise purchase requisitions for the department.*Support the R&I Manager & collaborate with researchers and stakeholders in drafting research contracts & variations to contracts.*Maintain R&I administrative systems, including computerised systems and databases*Manage the departmental e-rostering system, ensuring leave requests and sickness episodes are entered in a timely manner, and ensuring staff rosters are kept up to date and accurate*Provide secretarial support to the team, including arranging meetings, diary management, minute taking and transcribing, manage the room booking system, assist senior managers with their administrative/organisational tasks, organise travel arrangements, book conference calls, taxis, couriers, etcAbout usHampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services. Desirable

  • Relevant financial qualifications
  • NVQ or equivalent in customer care
  • Knowledge of GP Computer systems; Microsoft Office, RIO, EDGE

ExperienceEssential

  • Experience of clerical and administrative work requiring a high degree of accuracy and working in accordance with policies/procedures
  • Experience dealing with patients/public
  • Relevant experience in financial administration
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and other database computer systems

Desirable

  • Understanding of research funding mechanisms and financial management.
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • An understanding of the structure and organisation of services in the NHS.
