Do you want to support the transition to more equitable forms of development? If the answers to these questions are yes, then read on.What will I be doing?An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Global Development to research climate resilient development. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team across the CLimate Adaptation and REsilience (CLARE) research programme exploring critical issues related to climate adaptation.That sounds really interesting, but can you provide a bit more information?You will define, design and lead the work on climate resilient development across the CLARE research programme. You will be based within the SUCCESS research project but work across the portfolio of projects funded under the CLARE programme. Your specific responsibilities are to synthesise the research and knowledge on climate resilient development that is being generated within the CLARE programme. Within this role you will be expected to make significant contributions to new knowledge. You will also be expected to foster strong research partnerships, strengthen capacity and pursue research impact in support of transformational change.That sounds great, but do I have the right attributes for the role?You will have:

  • A postgraduate level qualification and experience in a relevant research area
  • A track record of independent research supported by publications in respected journals.
  • Strong research and analysis skills and be comfortable working with qualitative or quantitative data.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must as the project works in a variety of contexts and geographies. Experience of climate adaptation within the global south is desirable.This full-time post is available from 3 March 2025 on a fixed-term basis for 21 months.UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working.
