Processing over £101 billion worth of premium and claims transactions today, we are building a new digital platform and services that will enable our customers to move transactions and money through the processing lifecycle with greater efficiency and speed, releasing time to drive innovation and focus on higher value activities.Job OverviewVelonetic are committed to complying with all economic sanction laws globally, including regulations of the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations, as well as applicable sanctions laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which Velonetic operates. We have a comprehensive sanctions compliance programme in place to ensure that we meet this commitment and mitigate the risk to the organisation.We require a self-motivated and experienced senior compliance professional, who can provide sanctions advisory services to the business, detail final analysis on complex trade and asset freeze sanctions referrals and act as a sanctions SME. They should be able to interpret sanctions regulations and changes and understand their impact on Velonetic controls.What you will be doingKey Responsibilities

  • Case assessment: support the Compliance Function at Velonetic in providing advice to the business in response to sanctions case referrals for claims and premium processing requests, in line with OFAC, OFSI, UN and EU sanctions. Provide clear detailed rationale and final analysis covering trade and asset freeze restrictions
  • Support the Sanctions review team in Operations with queries to ensure a consistent sanctions approach, and lending sanctions expertise
  • Process improvement: using London Market insurance knowledge, assist with driving improvements both within compliance and across operational teams for sanctions related processes, including updates to work instructions and controls as required
  • Stakeholder Management: liaise with external and internal stakeholders on sanctions issues. Our customers are our external stakeholders, mainly staff at the brokers
  • Incident Management: identify, escalate and assess, potential sanctions incidents, including root cause analysis as required
  • Horizon Scanning: review all horizon scanning notifications, assess the impact for Velonetic and recommend appropriate changes / controls
  • Sanctions initiatives and projects: undertake ad hoc activities as required

What We need from youEssential Skills/Qualifications

  • 3-5 years knowledge of and experience with OFAC, OFSI, UN and EU sanctions laws and regulations, particularly as they relate to trade sanctions
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in compliance or legal
  • Ability to make final decisions on sanctions queries
  • Ability to handle busy workload and work well under pressure
  • Process design and analytical thinking. Attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Flexible approach – able to adapt to team priorities and tasks as required

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Demonstrable London Market (Lloyd’s and Company) knowledge – products and processes
  • Experience in insurance or banking
  • Legal qualifications desired, not required
  • Ability and experience working in a global organisation
