The OpportunityJoin our clients team as a Senior Technical Manager in the Building Enclosure Engineering division, part of the Building Science and Sustainability Group in the Greater Toronto Area. In this leadership role, you’ll play a pivotal part in expanding the engineering capabilities, driving project excellence, and cultivating strong client relationships across Ontario and Canada.What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and managing the Building Enclosure Engineering team, ensuring successful project delivery, conducting design reviews, and maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Developing strategies to grow the building enclosure business and expand its capabilities, with potential opportunities for broader leadership responsibilities.
- Building and strengthening client relationships through business development initiatives and active participation in client engagements.
- Managing financial aspects of the team, including budget planning, forecasting, and ensuring project profitability.
- Designing and managing building enclosure systems, including thermal and moisture protection, air barriers, cladding systems, windows and glazing, facade performance projects, and concrete rehabilitation.
- Overseeing building enclosure assessments, retrofitting studies, and specialized reports for existing buildings.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Preparing cost estimates, business cases, and detailed project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing thought leadership through webinars, client presentations, and participation in professional forums.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- A university degree in Engineering and a P.Eng. designation in a related field; certifications in building science or enclosure engineering are advantageous.
- 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering with a focus on building enclosure design and performance.
- Proven expertise in project and team management, including mentoring and developing junior professionals.
- Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring project profitability.
- Demonstrated success in client relationship management and business development within the consulting engineering sector.
- Technical proficiency in designing and assessing building enclosure systems, including thermal performance, moisture management, and air infiltration control.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other relevant software for building enclosure analysis.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally and to nearby provinces as required.
