Job SummaryJob DescriptionPrivate Trading is multi-billion-dollar bespoke brokerage business of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. offering advisory and customized trading solutions to sophisticated and qualified Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) global clients, Family Offices and other Enterprise Strategic Client (ESC) of RBC. Strategically aligned with the ESC group while operating on the RBC Dominion Securities platform as a regulated entity, PTO delivers a core Capital Markets offering with blended Wealth Management capabilities specially designed to best meet the complex needs of strategic clients of RBC, while deepening client relationships across the enterprise through a more integrated, client centered approach.The Senior Trader and Investment Strategist is at the core of a professional, highly specialized, multi-asset trading desk and service offering for sophisticated Enterprise Strategic, Family Offices and qualified UHNW global clients. The role includes managing the PTO clients trading needs across all asset classes (including equities, FX, derivatives, fixed income, structured notes and precious metals) in a ‘one stop shop’, including global execution capabilities in over 40 countries, customized trading solutions and bespoke related Capital Markets & Wealth Management services. The Senior Trader and Investment Strategist provides expertise and guidance to global Family Offices, UHNW and ESC clients with regard to trading and hedging strategies as well as service inquiries and issue resolution. Works in collaboration with strategic partners across RBC to design and implement customized solutions, and to explore opportunities to expand/deepen relationships with RBC strategic clients. The Senior Trader and Investment Strategist manages day-to-day client trade flow, market-related risk and operational aspects of sophisticated, strategically important RBC clientele.What will you do?

  • Manage the trading needs for PTO’s sophisticated global client base across all asset classes including equities (domestic/foreign), options, fixed income, FX, forwards, mutual funds, futures, options on futures, precious metals, structured products, as well as cash management.
  • Design and implement bespoke ‘One RBC’ solutions that best meet the complex needs of Enterprise Strategic clients, Family Offices and qualified UHNW clients.
  • Provide market related intelligence across asset classes and product types.
  • Advise RBC’s largest and most complex clients on multi-asset class bespoke trading strategies and solutions leveraging existing team capabilities.
  • Engage with the ESC Group’s senior coverage team and their enterprise clients regarding investment strategy and wealth-related account management.
  • Collaborate with other trading teams, broker dealers and 3rd parties as it relates to client trading needs or to explore new opportunities and innovative solutions.
  • Manage the PTO trade book, market-related trade risk and daily operational aspects of the desk.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships across RBC and collaborate to drive business growth, explore viable solutions to address complex client needs or to solve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Engage with PTO clientele in an Investment Advisor capacity regarding KYC/AML related issues.

What do you need to succeed?Must have:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant financial markets experience.
  • Trading experience in equities, fixed income, currency or exchange traded derivatives.
  • Strong Relationship Management/Sales skills.
  • Experience within Wealth Management / Capital Markets or Private Banking strongly preferred.
  • Ability to engage and cultivate partnerships across RBC to deliver results.
  • Team player, positive ‘can do’ attitude, strong collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to ‘think outside the box’.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced, trading environment.
  • Canadian Securities Course / Conducts & Practices Course an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Engineering.
  • Experience with trading platforms (Fidessa, Bloomberg, CQG, WEXX)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have:

  • Working toward CIM / CFA beneficial.
  • French an asset.
  • Option licensing / Futures licensing.
  • Programming skills.
