Short-Term College Faculty Position: Global Solutions Facilitator, RemoteAbout IREX
IREX is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to building a more just, prosperous, and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions, and extending access to quality education and information.IREX seeks current faculty members in the United States to facilitate the program in Fall 2024. This position is remote and will take place from October 2024 to December 2024. Expected time commitment per week is 1-3 hours for eight-weeks.Position Summary
The Global Solutions program a virtual exchange initiative that supports workforce development in the U.S., Iraq, and Jordan. Community college and university students from the U.S. and technical college and university students from Iraq and Jordan come together to solve global challenges in their communities. The program improves global citizenship, strengthens problem-solving skills, and develops enduring connections, while enhancing students’ job skills through online collaboration. Community College and university faculty apply to participate in the program on behalf of students and receive professional development training, program supplies and incentives upon completion.Global Solutions is implemented by IREX and is supported by the J. Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative (JCSVEI). JCSVEI is a U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs program administered by the Aspen Institute. Program Information
The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge is a virtual binational business competition where US-MENA teams of students compete to design the most sustainable business concept for a real need in their local communities based on themes chosen by IREX that encompass the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Project activities include:

  • Binational Virtual Competition: Facilitators put together gender-balanced teams to pair up with their binational partner in MENA over an eight-week period to create a sustainable solution inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Global Solutions Curriculum: Using IREX-provided curriculum, teams work together to research, brainstorm, design, test, and pitch their innovative solution. The curriculum includes both synchronous and asynchronous activities that prompt regular sharing and ideation between students.
  • Virtual Global Business Expo: Students create innovative solutions and present at the Virtual Global Business Expo to experts in the field.
  • Program Supplies and Honorarium: Facilitators have access to technology stipend and earn a $350 honorarium upon completion of the program. (Returning faculty members receive $100)

Eligibility Requirement

  • Must be a current faculty member in a U.S. academic institution with two or more years of teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to teaching and education.
