The Sister/Charge Nurse is accountable and responsible for the twenty-four-hour care delivery and management of the ward/area. The Sister/Charge Nurse will promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience, provide effective leadership and management and contribute to the delivery of the Trust/Divisional objectives. The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital is one of the Lead Centres for neonatal services within Bristol; this tertiary unit provides intensive care for the population of Bristol and beyond. The unit consists of 31 funded cots. 15 Intensive, 8 High dependency and 8 special care. The unit also supports a 16 cot Transitional Care ward. The unit provides care for very sick newborn infants with a wide variety of medical, cardiac and surgical conditions.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an experienced enthusiastic nurse to join our nursing team. As a senior member of the nursing team you will be expected to supervise the assessment of the care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care. You will be expected to take the lead in the shift coordination of the unit.   • NICU post registration experience
  • Previous Band 6 or higher experience in relevant Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Teaching experience
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and knowledge
