Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?We’re seeking a critical thinking developer for who DevOps ideology and workflows come as second nature. You’ll be working alongside an extremely flexible and dynamic team that focuses on reducing toil and enabling our peers to take advantage of modernized technology practices and principles. Our team’s primary purpose is to simplify and streamline the processes and workflows utilized by other teams using the various tools available at RBC to enable individuals and teams to focus on more goal-oriented work that creates value for RBC, and less time on repeatable or avoidable tasks.What will you do?Design and build automated pipelines that eliminate human touch and reduce toilCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand issues and blockers and recommend potential toil-reduction solutionsConstantly learn new industry practices and principles to identify future opportunities to be applied at RBCApply and demonstrate DevOps culture and best practices like continuous integration & continuous deployment (CI/CD), consistently gathering feedback and iterating on projects, and keeping developments as simple as can beWhat do you need to succeed?Must-havePost-secondary Education in Computer Science or other computing engineering related fieldExperience with some or all the following coding languages/tools: GoLang, Python, PowerShell, SQLExperience with some or all the following development tools/platforms: OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Ansible, GitHub, REST APIsWindows or Unix development or administration experience, ideally bothExperience with microservices architectureExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, communication skills, and initiative to outline problems and speak up to recommend solutionsNice-to-haveExperience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices; creating and maintaining budgets for SLOs & SLIsExperience with tools like Jenkins, Docker, GraphQL, Prometheus & PromQL/LogQLPractice researching new tools and practices and applying them effectively on an on-going basis as it makes sense to organizational goals and projectsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
