An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced dermatology nurse to join the Dermatology Department at the Royal London Hospital as a Skin Cancer CNS. The successful candidate must be a clinical expert in skin cancer with excellent communication skills. The role requires the ability to work autonomously and independently but within an integrated collaborative team. You will continually develop, implement and evaluate the skin cancer service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-disciplinary team framework. To work as an advance practitioner to effectively deliver an expert nursing service, primarily for Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer (NMSC), early melanoma and rare skin cancer patients. To ensure this caseload of patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support. To assist in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guideline, and to establish clear lines of communication to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patient.2. Provide specialist skin cancer nursing advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, working especially closely with the other Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), the Senior Nurse and the Lead Consultant Dermatologist for Skin Cancer.3. Provide leadership and support to junior nusing members of the Skin Cancer Team.4. To undertake a diverse range of roles, including nurse-led services, and be able to work according to local/national guidance and protocols, and work autonomously to coordinate, develop and deliver comprehensive care and services to patients.5. At all times ensure that the needs of the patients are placed at the centre of care delivery.6.   • Post registration qualification
  • Advanced communication course or willingness to undertake
  • Psychological skills level 3 course or willingness to undertake

Desirable

  • MSc or willingness to undertake
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Recognised training and experience in skin lesion recognition and dermoscopy
  • Recognised training and experience in skin biopsy/ surgery
  • Nurse education qualification. ENB 998 or equivalent Mentorship course.2

ExperienceEssential

  • Post registration experience including experience in a relevant area including either dermatology, skin cancer, or working within cancer services.
  • Experience in change management

Desirable

  • Experience in using dermoscopy to assess skin lesions or willingness to undertake
  • Experience working in skin cancer MDT
  • Experience of working in two-week wait and/or specialist skin cancer assessment clinics
  • Experience of participating in skin cancer quality surveillance/peer review

KnowledgeEssential

  • Ability to demonstrate professional and clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with the post
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and evidence based practices

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of skin cancer and the treatment pathway which patients follow.
  • Understanding of data management
  • Knowledge of lesion recognition
  • Knowledge of immunotherapy and its effects
  • Knowledge of Cancer patient Experience.
