Join our Major Projects team as a Social Impact Manager on the NZT project and shape something special.What you’ll be doingLeadership and Strategy:
- Supporting the NZT Power project in the North region with significant Social Impact KPIs and delivery of the Local Content Plan.
- As a key member of the Balfour Beatty Social Impact team the role must work closely and collaboratively with the Balfour Beatty Group Social Impact team and project partners to deliver group requirements and support the development of enhanced social impact processes and work programmes.
- Representing Balfour Beatty and showcasing our Social Impact achievements at
industry/supplier/customer forums as required to share good practice, inspire other organisations and promote our business and the expertise of the people within it.Planning and Delivery
- Provide relevant support to the procurement, estimating and commercial teams as required.
- Work collaboratively with the responsible sourcing team to agree an approach to support the supply chain, ensuring that any client or project specific requirements are communicated and deliverable.
- Taking a regional / place-based approach, responsible for the creation and development of a robust social impact action plan detailing key stakeholders and producing a clear schedule of activities
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of social impact commitments on assigned contracts
- Ensuring all social impact data is inputted into the appropriate systems in line with Balfour Beatty policy and processes to enable the accurate reporting of group data.
- Advising the project teams on how to improve their Social Impact data and performance, and leading improvement activity across the region.
- Identify and engage with local charities, community groups and local not for profits organisations, ensuring these are aligned with Balfour Beatty’s group policy and support the delivery of both the clients’ requirements and Balfour Beatty Group or Regional initiatives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local communities, NGO’s, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of Social Impact initiatives.
- Budget management in partnership with contract(s) commercial team for social impact activities
- Third Sector engagement and partnership management
- Identify Social Impact Best Practice/Case Studies
- Identify desired awards and Write Awards submissions
Reporting and Analysis:
- Gathering and reporting monthly data in line with Balfour Beatty requirements and specific project partners.
- Analyzing progress against targets and mapping against research and local intelligence information, to demonstrate impact.
- Supporting local stakeholder meetings and ensuring feedback is incorporated into social impact action plans.
- Share best practice and drive improvements that will benefit the wider Social Impact team and project partners.

Complexity: High complexity with bespoke requirements.Who we’re looking forYou will have the following:
- Ability to develop, prioritise, plan and deliver across a complex portfolio of work or major project.
- Ability to consider sustainability holistically.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organisation, including external stakeholders, and clients.
- A proven track record of successfully developing social impact strategies and delivering social impact aligned with regional requirements, to drive larger scale change.
- A genuine passion for making a meaningful difference and support national growth and prosperity.
- An awareness of the ‘Social Impact’ landscape in the UK including legislation, the Social Value Portal TOMs and the ethos of socially sustainable development.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and planning skills and the ability to ‘get things done’ on projects that often have multiple interested stakeholders
- Ability to influence procurement and commercial colleagues and effectively communicate the advantages of embedding social impact criteria and KPI’s within supply chain tenders.
- Creative thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and evaluate the impact of social impact initiatives using quantitative and qualitative data.
- Full Driving License.
