UNICEF has over 12,000 staff in more than 145 countries.BACKGROUNDPurpose of Activity/ Assignment:Under the supervision of the Senior Advisor, Health Programme Group, New York, the consultant will support the Global Heath Team in developing and implementing an integrated social media communication strategy and related content in support of global health priorities.The consultant shall support UNICEF in fulfilling its mission to ensure the health and well-being of every child. Responsibilities of the consultant will include developing and coordinating daily postings for the UNICEF Health’s social media accounts in accordance with appropriate trends.Scope of Work:– Plan, create, and curate social media content, maintain and update editorial calendars, collect and collate multimedia information from different departments.– Monitor various sources for new content and information about what is happening in and around the UN related to child, adolescent and maternal health– Create visuals, quote cards and other materials as requested using online tools (such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop).– Acts as focal point on social media matters, monitoring and reporting on the latest trends and developments, responding to queries, and participating in monitoring and evaluation.– Attend press conferences and events to gather quotes, take photos and videos which can be used in social media posts.– Draft posts for Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.– Research trends and posts from partners and suggest retweets/reposts; monitor the social media accounts for followers’ comments and questions.– Research latest social media trends for the visualization and communication of child health related topics/issues; assist the Office of the Director’s team in researching iconography in the Office’s image databases and online using the Office’s photo library; research concepts for campaigns and introduce ideas through clear visual and verbal presentations; respond to requests for drafting posts and creating engaging visuals, graphics, videos for the Office’s social media channels.– Support UNGA, WHS, GHNM events with updates to social media on relevant topics and discussions.If yes, please indicate the number of hours/months of direct interpersonal contact with children, or work in their immediately physical proximity, with limited supervision by a more senior member of personnel:Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables:Engagement Strategy Analysis & Reporting

  • 3 reports (one per month) detailing engagement metrics with partners and followers, emphasizing dialogue fostering initiatives and impact amplification efforts – By 31 December 2024
  • 13 summaries (one per week) of new content and UN-related developments in child, adolescent, and maternal health, collated from diverse channels. – By 31 December 2024
  • Develop a Theory of Change for the UNICEF Health Strategy. – By 30 November 2024

Content Creation & Curation Management

  • 13 editorial calendars (one per week) updating social media content plans and a catalog of multimedia materials sourced from various departments for streamlined access. – By 31 December 2024
  • 1 Large document compilation of visuals, quote cards, and other materials crafted using online tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop for cohesive brand representation. – By 31 December 2024

Event Coverage & Documentation

  • 10 sessions of documentation from press conferences and events, comprising quotes, photos, and videos tailored for impactful social media posts, enhancing event visibility and outreach. – By 30 November 2024

QualificationsEducation: MastersAdvanced degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Communications or in related fields.Work experience:Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required *:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in, communication project management or public health communications.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • One (1) year experience in production of social media content for international organizations and/or ONG.
  • Expertise in analyzing complex data sets, analysis and trend forecasting.

Language Proficiency: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations SecretariatRequirements:Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and– Upload copy of academic credentials– Financial proposal that will include/ reflect :

  • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
