Job DescriptionInternal Job Title: Software DeveloperJob Type: Permanent, Full-TimeJob Location: 18 Auriga Drive, Ottawa ONWork Model: HybridPosition SummaryAs a Developer in our Digital Services Group, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative applications and solutions to support emerging identity models and standards. This position places you at the forefront of the rapidly advancing digital identity space that will redefine the online experience by moving physical identification (e.g. driver’s licenses and identification cards) to secure mobile apps.ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development

  • Develop and maintain software applications, incorporating new features based on user feedback/needs and ensuring they integrate seamlessly with the existing application or legacy system
  • Design and implement APIs at the heart of our product
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that follows CBN code standards and guidelines and develop automated unit tests to validate the code and ensure it is performing as expected
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Designers and other Development Team Members to understand and define system requirements
  • Participate in regular code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing

Continuous Learning and Improvement

  • Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices to continuously improve your skills
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools or technologies that can enhance development processes or team productivity

QualificationsKnowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or similar program) or an equivalent combination of relevant education (college) and additional work experience
  • Knowledge of the following:
  • Object-oriented programming principles
  • Three tier client-server architecture and software design patterns
  • Agile (SCRUM) development methodology
  • Cloud computing and containerization
  • DevOps methodology, practices, and tools
  • 0-4 years of experience in software development position (new grads welcome)
  • Experience working with Azure/Kubernetes/Docker/Spring

Technical Environment

  • Languages: Java (OOP and Functional), Kotlin
  • Frameworks: Spring
  • Cloud Platform: Azure
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Bicep
  • Database: PostgreSQL, Mongo
