We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solution Architect to join the Aviva Ireland architecture team on an 18 Month Fixed Term Contract! The successful candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders and IT colleagues to design end-to-end solutions within an exciting, multi-year transformation & re-platforming program.They will collaboratively produce designs that are not merely functional, but also secure, resilient, performant, scalable, adaptable, maintainable, and operationally efficient. Designs will comprise both transitional and target states, and serve as blueprints for colleagues and partners in delivery roles.The Solution Architect will harmonise designs with existing standards and IT strategy where possible, and articulate the rationales where not. To support decision-making, they will authoritatively explain the benefits and risks of competing design options.They will work alongside local architectural colleagues, but also be an active member of the wider Aviva group’s solution architecture community.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design solutions for transformation projects which meet Aviva’s technology standards and ensure they meet our aims for availability, security, resilience and performance.
- Craft design options with associated costs, benefits and risks to enable investment decisions.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, development teams and other project colleagues to agree trade-offs between long-term and short-term goals.
- Responsible for the integrity of the end-to-end technical solution, including transition states used to achieve the target.
- Provide leadership on key decisions to ensure the long-term strategic goals of Aviva IT are met as well as short term project needs.
- Ensure design artefacts are produced to support service, security, architecture and engineering.
Skills & Experience:
- Excellent design skills working as a solution architect, or in other IT roles pertinent to design.
- Deep expertise in system design and enterprise integration patterns.
- Deep expertise in desirable non-functional design traits, and patterns for achieving them.
- Understanding of both on-premise and cloud-based systems, and design-relevant distinctions.
- Understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of data and its implications within a large enterprise.
