There are also wider groups such as the Young Employees Forum (YEF) for those at an early stage of their career which provides a wider peer network across the many design, advisory and consulting disciplines that is Buro Happold. The YEF not only organises professional development events but has a wider focus on encouraging participation in voluntary activities and social events.Bristol UWE University will provide an excellent programme of study on a day-release format, meaning you will spend one day per week in class for 24 weeks per academic year. A typical taught week will include eight hours of contact with academics, and an additional 12 hours of study. Sustainable design is the top of our corporate agenda.Undertake detailed building services (including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, sustainability) design and calculations (using both software and knowledge to verify robust calculations).Ensure the sustainable & energy service and project work are carried out to an excellent standard – within agreed deadlines and within budget.Apply sustainable assessment methodologies such as BREEAM & WELL to buildings and actively encourage their inclusion within building designs.Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions.Learn and develop skills in dynamic simulation computer programmes such as IES, Stroma SAP to help provide insight and help design sustainable buildings.Represent the company as part of a team by attending design team meetings or meetings with clients and architectsUse building modelling software to design engineering services on projects through learning from colleagues and in house trainingWhat do I bring to this role?A keen interest in the built environment, particularly in sustainability and energyA desire to develop building modelling and sustainability skills to express your designsConfident, enthusiastic, proactive and ‘can do’ attitudeA positive and inquisitive approach and the confidence to ask and respond to challenging questionsWhat qualifications will I need in order to enrol?
- Tariff points: 112
- GCSE: GCSE: Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths).
- A-level subjects: Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Computing/Computer Science; Design and Technology; Electronics; Engineering; ICT; Further Mathematics; Music Technology; Physics; Statistics. Mathematics requirement can also be met by the Cambridge Pre-U Mathematics at Merit 3. Points from A-level General Studies and AS-level subjects (not taken onto full A-level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-levels.
- EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: One of the following BTEC Diplomas: Aeronautical Engineering; Applied Science; Construction and the Built Environment; Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Engineering; Land-based Technology; Manufacturing Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; or Operations and Maintenance Engineering. Must include Merit in one of the following units: Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction. Please list the units that you are taking in your application.
- Access: Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit including 15 in Mathematics and 15 in another science or technology subject. Please list the units that you are taking in your application.
- Baccalaureate IB: To include a minimum grade of 5 in higher level Mathematics and a pass at higher level in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies.
- Irish Highers: H2 in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Engineering; Physics; Technology.
- T Levels: Grade C in A-Level Mathematics, in addition to your T Level qualification.
What do I get?Successful apprentices will graduate with a BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering University degree (Level 6)Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status upon Completion.
