Job Description
Please note this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week – Thursday to Monday 10:00-18:00.
The purpose of this role is to complete the relevant stage of testing to the required quality standards and internal methods/procedures. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
- To carry out registration of samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures
- To carry out processing of samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures
- To carry out media preparation in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures
- To carry out reading/confirmation tests in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- To carry out media QC, IQC, environmental monitoring in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Adhering to documented procedures for the relevant section of the laboratory, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
- Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.
- Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
- To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
- Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
- Read and comply with company rules, procedures, agreements and any notices displayed by the Company.
- Any other reasonable tasks as delegated by the line manager
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in science.
- Understanding of ISO 17025, UKAS, key customer requirements, audit procedures, methods etc.
- Experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
- Good organisational and technical problem-solving skills.
- Capable of working well under pressure.
- Reliable and thorough.
- Willing to take on responsibility.
