Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?You will be a member of a team that is responsible for the preparation and filing of US tax forms including 945, 1099, 1042 and 1042-S. Specific duties will include a number of critical activities related to U.S. tax withholding, remitting and reporting for QI, FATCA, Section 302, Section 305c, Section 871m, Section 1446a and Section 1446f.What will you do?
- Undertake day to day activities within the US Tax team including, but not limited to, preparing and reviewing daily reports, processing tax adjustments, calculating and remitting tax to the IRS, reconciling Section 871m transactions, and processing Section 302 events
- Investigate and resolve client and branch questions
- Adhere to regulatory tax reporting requirements
- Maintain desk operating procedural manuals – review and update as required
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and reduce operational risk using automated and semi-automated processes
- Participate in development and testing phases of regulatory projects
What do you need to succeed?Must Have
- University degree within a financial or economic sector or a recognized financial based diploma or equivalent work experience
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Access
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
- Flexible pro-active attitude with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and work well under the pressure of regulatory deadlines
- Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy regarding data entry, review and analysis
Nice to Have
- Operational tax knowledge of US withholding and tax reporting for QI and FATCA
- Knowledge of U.S., Canadian and foreign investment / securities industry
- Previous experience with reconciliation processes
- Working knowledge of Monarch, VBA, SQL, Adobe Acrobat, mail merges and macros
