Specialist Senior Paediatric Diabetes DietitianDivision: Cancer and Core Clinical ServicesCare Group: Diagnostics and TherapiesBand: 7Salary: £46,148 – £52,809 per annum/pro rataPlease note this role is Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months covering maternity leave commencing May/June 2025We are recruiting for a Specialist Senior Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian who shares our ambition and vision to deliver theBest of Care by the Best Peopleand has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.Main duties of the jobSupport in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Paediatric Diabetes Service provided to in- and out-patients who have a diagnosis of diabetes (both Types 1 and 2).As an autonomous practitioner to take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentation, and to tailor dietetic treatment as indicated.To develop the dietetic service within this area to raise nutrition awareness, create nutritional pathways and report to / be responsible to the Lead Dietitian.Our values areBold, Every Person Counts, Sharing and Open and Together. - Diploma/degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Current Health Professions Council registration
- Member of British Dietetic Association, ideally including relevant specialist group
KnowledgeEssential
- Competency in nutritional assessment of patients in paediatric patients with diabetes in a variety of settings
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the issues involved with high caseload numbers management
- Knowledge of working with continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps and advancing technology
- Understanding of clinical governance and relevant national guidelines
- Evidence of carbohydrate counting and management of diabetes using different methods
ExperienceEssential
- Demonstrate experience of working with a variety of clinical specialities and range of population groups, for children, this may include coeliac disease, fussy eating, malnutrition and obesity
- Experience of supervising Dietetic students
- Experience of responding to demand / prioritising work / managing a caseload in fast moving environment
- Involvement of developing department and service protocols
- Experience of managing patients within an MDT setting
