From September 2024, the highly ranked University of Bath MPharm pharmacy course will also be delivered at the University of Plymouth.This will significantly increase the opportunities for students to study this subject in the region.This course will be delivered in close collaboration with NHS England and with many local stakeholders.This is an exciting time for the profession, as changes to pharmacy education will allow all pharmacists to prescribe on registration from 2026, increasing the diversity of roles within the career. The course will recruit 25 students for September 2024 start, building to 40 students at steady state.As such, we are searching for a qualified, keen and professional Pharmacy Practice Technician.The technician will be one of a larger team of technicians in the departments but will, for the most part, be responsible for dedicated pharmacy teaching spaces and will work independently to support Pharmacy practice teaching at our Plymouth campus.The role involves working closely with academics and pharmacy practitioners to develop, prepare resources and demonstrate appropriate use of clinical and simulation equipment for delivering practical classes.The duties are time sensitive and classes are timetabled before the start of each semester, therefore a highly organised approach to planning and a proactive, solutions-based mindset are essential.About youThe successful candidate will develop and use their technical expertise to support pharmacy practice teaching including the use and maintenance of simulated manikins and software.Where needed the technician will engage with external engineers and contractors in order to ensure continuity of service.The post also supports researchers in offering guidance and purchasing support for controlled substances.Experience in health and safety compliance, including an ability to carry out risk assessments is required along with a good knowledge of Pharmacy law and the correct handling, storage and security around working with medicines and controlled substances.Demonstrating professionalism, an independent and a flexible approach to work are essential, along with excellent communication skills.Additional informationConsiderations are being given to part-time and flexible working needs.Flexibility will be required due to timetabling of teaching which may change from semester to semester.Although based in Plymouth, training and shadowing will take place at our Bath campus and there will be opportunities to work with and meet the rest of the technical team.For further information concerning the post contact Dr Sarah Shariki ([email protected]) or Dr Daniel Lou-Hing ( ).What we can offer you
