Are you dynamic, motivated and ambitious in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine?If so we really can help you….We are seeking doctors with at least 2 years ED experience to fill Specialty Doctor posts full or part time across both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells site.Highlights include:A structured teaching programme tailored individually to suite your needs on passing the MCEM/FCEM exams at the earliest opportunity.3 day ‘Fundamentals of Trauma Care’ courseIn-house APLS/ATLS/ALS coursesMonthly training day with full ED curriculum with Expert speakers3 free ‘National ED Conferences’ to attend as CPD per year.Main duties of the jobDuties of the posts include:To liaise between nurses, other clinicians, patients, relatives in order to support safe careAttend and participate in board rounds, ward rounds and other related daily unit activitiesProvide appropriate workplace supervision to other staff as and when needed as requestedMaintain high standards of professionalism, especially in relation to documentationParticipate in the Emergency rota.Discharge notifications and follow up clinic letters as directed.About usMaidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust has two Emergency Departments. We see combined annually 150,000 patients. Tunbridge Wells is a purpose built Emergency Department seeing trauma patients regularly and has its own Helipad. There are plans currently to develop a separate Paediatric Emergency Department.The Trust is situated in a picturesque area of Kent, with good transport links, excellent schools and varied leisure activities!Our teaching programme has been very well received and we have an increasing number of candidates who have gone into or completed higher specialist training with us.The departments are supervised by ED Consultants 08.00-22.00hrs, who are very supportive and enthusiastic in helping you develop your clinical, academic and leadership quality, whilst you are part of our team and beyond.Job description
Job responsibilitiesTo provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility.To participate in clinical and other service activities and developments with the aim of ensuring a high standard of patient care across the Trust.To work in close co-operation with other medical, professional and managerial colleagues, both within and outside the specialty, to provide high quality health care to the Trusts patients, and to make a contribution to future thinking about the Trusts strategic directionPerson Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- GMC registration (full)
- MB BS (or equivalent)
Desirable
- MCEM (or part)
- ATLS
- ALS
- APLS
- EPLS
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Completed Foundation training or equivalent
- Completed at least 4 years full time post grad training, at least 2 of which will be in Emergency Medicine
Teaching Skills
Desirable
- Previous teaching experience
