The opportunity

The Sr Associate, Securities Operations will administer the processing of any transactions that support our clients and operations processes. This includes, but are not limited to, activities related to Securities, payments and transfers, pension administration, self- directed plans, investor mortgages or corporate trust. The Senior Trust Services Officer also coordinates and monitors work within the team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently to ensure there is no negative impact that could result in losses for clients or the Trust.
  • Communicate effectively with the Client Services Team and external contacts when responding to transaction requests and inquiries.
  • Regularly review SLA targets in collaboration with the manager to ensure client’s needs are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex client issues.
  • Support the manager in the overall operation of the team, coordinating the flow of work and communication and ensuring an equitable distribution of work.
  • Monitor and periodically audit work completed by the team to ensure it’s completed within established timeframes, service level agreements and operational policies.
  • Investigate and resolve errors and complex transactions, including discrepancies identified by Internal Controls or the Client Services Team.
  • Support the Client Services Team through the investigation and resolution of assigned escalations.
  • Complete all work within established timeframes, service level agreements and operational policies.
  • Train new team members and ensure that the team is kept up to date on industry knowledge and standards
  • Ensure the confidentiality of the Trust and is customers is maintained by routinely securing all documentation during non-business hours and is aware of and adheres to employees code of conduct
  • Maintenance of long term document control and electronic reporting for all applicable tasks
  • Special duties can be assigned for daily completion, as discussed with assigned leader

Core knowledge requirements

  • High school graduation required
  • Post-secondary education in business or a related discipline

Relevant “can do” experience

  • 5+ years of administrative experience the financial industry with significant exposure to self-directed registered products.
  • 5+ years of client service experience in financial services or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of RRSP, RRIF and TFSA rules
  • Strong knowledge of pensions, benefit payment changes and taxable payments
  • Some supervisory experience is an asset.
