What you’ll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s team, the Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analysis is responsible for providing advice and consultation for business application development. The role provides technical leadership, interpreting complex business and technical information, and participating in client business review sessions to influence decisions regarding the use of technology to support corporate objectives. The Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analysis develops, recommends and facilitates activities required for the application of new technologies to support existing processes and client needs. The role provides expertise to business analysts, project managers, coordinators and directors on technology functionality and utilization, utilizing a solid understanding of technology and business dynamics. The role independently resolves a variety of ambiguous challenges with organization-wide impacts, devising new methods using strong analytic and inductive thinking.

How you’ll succeed
- Delivery of Business and Solution Requirements – Work closely with business partners to gather/understand complex business requirements, elicit/document solution requirements and facilitate solution design discussions to meet project objectives. Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements.
- Leading and Mentoring – Support end-to-end project implementation as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and project professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
- Solution Design – Help build client-focused solutions that meet business requirements. Prepare and validate solution design documents around areas such as scope clarification, solution requirements, and quality assurance.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate 5+ years experience in business systems analysis and solution design roles on Finance initiatives in the Financial Services Sector. With the ability to elicit requirements, analyze application code, and write precise and useful documentation, you lead project implementations and design Finance Technology solutions. You have excellent abilities to manage stakeholders, and are a strong communicator. You can discuss issues and requirements in business terms with diverse non-technical business teams, and in technical terms with application development and quality assurance personnel and/or vendors. You have strong abilities around analyzing and understanding data, as well as gap analysis expertise. You have experience with relational databases and ETL tools, including writing moderately complex queries and reading stored procedures & ETL workflows in order to understand data, analyze technical solutions, and specify solution requirements. You are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Visio, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- It’s an asset if you have domain knowledge of Finance, including knowledge of financial & management accounting, statutory, regulatory & management reporting, and enterprise financial planning. Practical experience with CIBC financial accounting, reporting and planning systems is a large asset.
- It’s an asset if you have hands on technical experience with Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, or other relational database management systems; Informatica, ODI, SDI, or other ETL tools; OBIEE/OAS, OAC, Cognos, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, SAC, or other BI/analytics tools; Oracle DRM, SAP MDG, or other hierarchy / master data management solutions; or SAP S/4HANA.
