We are offering 2-3 month contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Financial Analyst in Toronto, Ontario.
Reporting to the CFO, you will be actively involved in providing accounting, financial, and analytical support, with a primary focus on financial statements reporting, analysis, and year-end activities.Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation and reconciliation of quarterly financial statements in line with bank requirements, including cash flow analysis and financial statement and bank covenant projections.
  • Taking ownership of the year-end financial statement preparation and annual audit process, acting as the main liaison with external audit teams.
  • Reviewing business transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, identifying potential issues, conducting research, and providing recommendations.
  • Managing the overall balance sheet, including reconciling key general ledger accounts, conducting variance and trend analyses, and preparing related journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Overseeing capital reporting and budgeting processes, including monthly tracking, recording, and analyzing of fixed asset acquisitions, amortization, and disposals.
  • Collaborating with finance, IT, and operations teams to support system integrations such as Workday and Salesforce, defining requirements, testing, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing accounting policies and guidelines, and ensuring compliance.
  • Supporting monthly sales tax filings and providing recommendations on required reserves, provisions, and write-offs.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and participating in process improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting with daily accounting activities and supporting other ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business management from a college or university
  • CPA designation or close to completion
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and work efficiently to meet various deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Workday systems is an asset
