Senior Financial Internal Auditor
Department: Global Internal Audit and Risk Management
Location: 1130 W. Warner Road, Tempe, AZ
Hybrid mode: 3 days at the Tempe office and 2 days remotely
Type of employment: Permanent, full time
THE ROLE
The Senior Financial Internal Auditor is a trusted business advisor and strategic business partner responsible for leading audit engagements and performing and overseeing financial internal control audits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, plan and perform audit mandates assigned (e.g., operational audits, in-flight reviews) in a timely manner and in accordance with audit standards and internal audit methodology.
- Perform the independent evaluation of design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting)/SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) key controls.
- Evaluate the Company’s operating processes and systems to identify meaningful opportunities for improvement that are designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations.
- Act as a strategic business partner and collaborate with management regarding internal controls, process and system efficiency and risk management.
- Prepare audit reports, including communicating concise and accurate audit results in a timely manner.
- Follow-up on the implementation of action plans agreed to in audit reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of auditing experience.
- Big 6 firm experience is considered an asset.
- Degree in Accounting/Management/Finance combined with a recognized accounting designation (e.g., CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation (or in the process of obtaining one of these designations).
- Experience leading mandates while supervising, coaching, and collaborating with team members.
- Experience in performing and overseeing ICFR/SOX internal controls testing and compliance requirements (including knowledge of the COSO Framework).
- Experience in the retail industry is considered an asset.
- Availability to travel up to 15% of the time.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong time management skills and capacity to manage simultaneous deliverables effectively.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and sound professional judgment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Experience with AuditBoard application is considered an asset.
- Experience with data analytics (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is considered an asset.
