Amazon’s Global Accounting Technology team seeks a bar-raising Sr. IT Application Engineer who can build scalable technical solutions, consistently exceed expectations, thrive in a challenging workplace, and actively contribute to our talented team.

The ATEAM (Accounting, Tools, Entities, Automation, and Management Reporting) Technology team is a dedicated group of Amazonians in global accounting. We identify Accounting business processes for automation, facilitate process improvement workshops, document automation use cases, build the automation, and launch and manage automations. Our team’s primary focus is to provide accounting process optimization, standardization, and technology services to help Global Accounting and Finance communities improve efficiency and controllership by reducing procedural frictions and enabling automated solutions for greater productivity.

The ATEAM Agile Automation team implemented Alteryx practices in Accounting in Q4 ‘2019. This initiative aims to reduce the manual efforts in global Accounting, thereby minimizing risks to our financial statements while enhancing productivity, efficiency, and controllership. We are looking for a Sr. IT App Engineer to build automation solutions for global accounting using Alteryx, internal home-grown automations tools, and AWS services.
This role is very critical for the success of the automation program and high visibility with Accounting and Fin-tech Leadership. This person must work with various project stakeholders, Alteryx Developers, BI Engineers, Data Engineers, AWS Infrastructure team, and Accounting Managers. The Sr. IT App Engineer is responsible for developing and deploying the Alteryx solutions promptly by meeting Amazon’s Highest Standards. The key responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the third-party Alteryx and contractor team to develop the reports. Support the Alteryx integration with Amazon internal applications. Participate in daily scrum calls with the internal team members and provide regular project updates to the management.
Additional responsibilities include internal control design, working with internal InfoSec and Fin-Sec teams, and implementing to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. Once the automation use cases are deployed into the production environment, the developer will hand over the use case to the production support team. The core competencies of the support lead are application management, systems analysis, and incident management, focusing on process standardization, application configuration, business rules/logic, and data management. A person requires adequate technical skills to quickly address customer needs and provide analysis and remedies across many tasks. The critical success factors for this function are skilled application expertise, standardized intake, SLA management, application configuration best practices and development, end-user training, and outstanding incident management engagement.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ensure to meet our highest standards for quality and timely automation of statistical reports using Alteryx and AWS Databrew and support services.
  • This role focuses on long-term business technology objectives and targeted business outcomes by clarifying automation technology capabilities assessing and mitigating security risks.
  • Ensure platform scale, availability, and stability, involvement in automation development cycles, and providing best-in-class support services.
  • Hire and Develop the team to develop and manage statistical reports for global accounting team
  • Owns application management, systems analysis, and incident management, with a focus on process standardization, application configuration, business rules/logic, and data management.
  • Possess adequate technical skills to quickly address customer needs and provide analysis and remedies across many tasks.
  • The critical success factors for this function are skilled application expertise, standardized intake, SLA management, application configuration best practices and development, end-user training, and outstanding incident management engagement.
  • Alteryx Integration with SCR Datamart and Compliance Central
  • Oversee the delivery of Alteryx third party vendor and providing Training on Amazon Development Framework and Alteryx Integrations with SCR Datamart and Compliance Central
  • Oversee the Alteryx Application Support and Integration Support
  • Oversee the Knowledge Transition of Production Deployed Reports

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in computer science, finance, accounting or related field
· 5 – 7 years of IT experience in Alteryx and AWS Databrew, design, operations and support teams in finance/accounting fields

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience working in a fast paced environment similar to a high tech start-up with responsibility for leading direct reports and influencing teams in a matrixed environment
· GRC controls executions like SAS, GRC Next and Lambda violations.
· MBA/Masters with technology/finance/accounting background preferred
· Experience in building the Data Analytical platforms using Alteryx and AWS Databrew
· Experience with AWS Technologies and Services
· ERP General Ledger and Reporting experience with one or more Fortune 500 companies
· Basic working knowledge in accounting/finance/tax
