Roll up your sleeves and get to work – on-site, off-site, over the phone – help business owners build in our communities.The OpportunityThis leadership role provides operational direction for the underwriting and administrative support group, with direct oversight of Analyst Accounts /Senior Analyst Accounts and/or Business Coordinators, and assists in guiding the strategic direction, also requires credit underwriting and administrative support for the Relationship Management leads. Responsible for ensuring the team’s credit portfolio remains within CWB’s credit risk appetite while minimizing overall operational risk to the organization.What you’ll be doingProvide support and leadership to the Analyst Accounts /Senior Analyst Accounts and/or Business Coordinators team to support achievement of department financial objectives through effective and timely credit underwriting for new and existing borrowing opportunities, while balancing risk and reward in line with CWB’s risk appetite.Facilitate ongoing training and development of all team members through knowledge transfer and fostering an environment of continuous learning. Enhance areas such as risk assessment, underwriting, credit structuring and credit presentation skills within the team.Assist the team in optimizing overall profitability of relationships, within assigned portfolio, with new and existing clients based on return guidelines, customer risk profile, total banking relationship, and competitive environment.Manage credit activities to ensure prudent lending with proactive risk management, including appropriate/timely monitoring, due diligence and recommendations, within the assigned portfolio.Be accountable for timely and consistent completion of annual reviews and reports, while proactively identifying and taking appropriate action on issues, particularly with respect to delinquent, watch list and Out of Order accounts.Assist with management of negative trending accounts with consultation with AVP & Manager, Real Estate Accounts and Credit Risk Department, as required.Ensure efficient and effective operations with strong data integrity including strong collaboration with other CWB teams, within the assigned branch/market and Credit Risk department.Ensure products and services are sold and operate in a compliant manner minimizing regulatory compliance and operational risk.Act as a credit subject matter expert, including relevant industry and market trends and the associated credit structuring.Lead the execution, deployment and adherence to all policies and procedures, in consultation with the AVP & Manager, Real Estate Accounts and other key stakeholders, to maintain satisfactory internal audit reports and to meet all compliance department objectives.Successful incumbentA highly motivated team player and leader who puts people first, builds relationships, embraces change, strives for inclusivity, and is thoughtful around their actions – all while armed with a sense urgency, ownership & community pride.Exceptional financial analysis skills to ensure credit structures are within CWB’s thresholds for risk and working knowledge of collateral security and documentation requirements.Proven ability to provide effective leadership and coaching to teams responsible for credit adjudication, underwriting, and administration of loan portfolios.Very strong influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills with the ability to work across business units and corporate office departments.Experience with banking and loan origination systems is an asset.Core knowledge requirementsBachelors’ Degree in business or related disciplineFinancial designation preferred or equivalent experienceDemonstrated experience7+ years financial services experience within functions of real estate lending, risk management, banking and/or business lending, including direct experience leading people and managing teams.Experience in credit adjudication supported by well-developed skills in financial statement analysis and knowledge of effective risk mitigation strategies for commercial credit underwriting.Expertise in commercial lending across the majority of industries in which CWB operates, while continuously building knowledge and staying up-to-date with industry trends and industry key risks.Demonstrated acumen in team building, leadership, coaching, mentoring, communication, and planning skills.Take your career further with CWB.
