Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Reporting to the Director, Investments Technology, we are looking for a Senior Scrum Master who will support the delivery of initiatives that are transformational, innovative, and regulatory. The role will enable one or more multi-disciplinary agile teams to deliver technology projects aligned with business strategic priorities and regulatory demands.The Senior Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team as it removes any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its sprint goals and ultimately delivers a product that generates business benefits for one or several RBC lines of business. Senior Scrum Masters play an important role in the long-term evolution of agile practices at RBC.Of course, the journey would not be possible without world-class talent. If this sounds interesting to you keep reading!What will you do?Facilitate Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planningAccountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectationsTrack and manage risks to delivery and reporting financials for the TeamFacilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the teamRemove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies and simple team problem-solving, considering options and selecting solutions; escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessaryAccountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g. tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment. Manage team performance to promote joint accountability for results and solve productivity issuesFacilitating and engaging in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms. Navigating and identifying shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objectivesWhat do you need to succeed?Must-have10+ years Project Management experience; spanning small projects and large programs with high level of value (benefit/cost), and very high level of complexity / uncertainty, and a track record of successful deliveryAn attitude for success, proactive approach to project management, outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail, and passion for innovationKnowledge of Scaled Agile practicesKnowledge of collaboration tools – JIRA and ConfluenceExperience with Planview and/or RBC MIS (Management Information System)Proven ability to manage high visible programs/projects with third party vendors and significant technology components along with having a strong executive presence and advanced communication, presentation and facilitation skillsAdvanced knowledge of change, issue, and risk management and working knowledge of Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies/day-2-day ceremonies; Agile experience fostering team improvements through standard Agile processes and ceremonies.Nice-to-haveUndergraduate degree (preferred) – Preferably in Business, Technology or Financial ServicesProject/Program Management certifications (e.g. PMP and/or PgMP)Data Migration design, development, or Architecture experiencePrevious experience working in Investments / TechnologyWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
