Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?In this role you will join our Middleware Support team and help support Enterprise applications and integration hosting platform, working as a Middleware (WebSphere) Technical Systems Analyst supporting project work related business initiatives. Specific roles & responsibilities:The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in managing updates released by IBM for our application server environment. The ideal candidate should have 3-4 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of risk management and security practices related to application server environments.Ensuring proper monitoring and alerting is in place for problem avoidance, performing Root Cause Analysis and recommending performance improvements to ensure optimal use of system resources and providing runtime consulting services to applications that utilize these services supporting mission critical applications.What will you do?Perform installation, upgrade, configuration, deployment, and administration of various of the WebSphere Application Server product across all Distributed platforms: Windows Server, AIX and Linux.Build and update Development, QA, Staging and Production/DR systems running WebSphere Application Server on VMWare and/or bare-metal systems.Participate in an on-call rotation to facilitate support during off hours and weekends if/when needed.Supporting a 24×7 environments which requires evening/weekend implementation involvement/support as primary responsibilities.L2/L3 problem analysis and root cause analysis (i.e Troubleshoot Runtime & Application deployment failures/execution issues)Scripting and automating maintenance tasks to reduce or eliminate repetitive tasks using scripting tools like Ansible Playbooks, Bash, Perl, PowerShell or Python.Act as a Technical Middleware Subject Matter Expert (SME) on projects and go-to resource for solving critical technical issues or application architecture design according to RBC Middleware Standards.Recommend strategies to drive down cost and improve efficiencies with supported vendor software to ensure compliance of all systems across the enterprise.What do you need to succeed?Must have:3+ years hand’s on experience configuring and managing systems running with IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server on various Distributed OS platforms: Windows, Linux, AIX.Ability to plan and implement upgrades, fixpacks, and ifixes in a timely manner to ensure system security and stability across the enterprise.Conduct regular hardening assessments to identify areas of improvement and address any compliance issues related to system upgrades.Experience with Support of high volume 7X24 operations.Experience with Web-based applications and services within a multi-tiered architecture environment.WebSphere MQ messaging experience.
