Job description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in North York, Ontario. This role is primarily focused on managing and processing both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), as well as acting as an intermediary between offshore teams and our local team. The position will also involve general ledger management, bank reconciliations, and customer/vendor management.Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Act as the primary point of contact for offshore accounting teams, assisting with workflow management and escalating issues as necessary
- Handle journal entries and month-end close processes
- Maintain accurate records and perform reconciliations of both customer and vendor accounts
- Use accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP to manage and process financial data
- Assist with the coaching and support of our partners at our outsourced accounting team
- Step in and manage tasks when procedures do not follow the standard script provided to the offshore team
- Provide support for the processing and running of payments when required
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the General Ledger for efficient and informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
- Experience with bank reconciliations
- Familiarity with maintaining and updating the General Ledger
- Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries
- Experience with Month End Close procedures
- Proficient in using accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
- Relevant certification such as CPA is a plus.
