About the SBTi:
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious
emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating
companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions
before 2050.
The initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World
Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean

About the team: The role sits within the Technical Department that leads the development and
maintenance of the key resources within the initiative to enable the adoption of climate targets in
line with the best-available science and following best-practice for standard-setting organizations.

Key responsibilities include:
Developing a robust stakeholder engagement strategy for SBTi standards development,
including developing an approach to addressing barriers faced by stakeholder groups who
have been under-engaged or under-represented
Building out stakeholder mapping and engagement plans for ongoing standards
developments (inc. public consultations, piloting)
Set and work towards stakeholder participation goals for balanced, diverse and
representative engagement
Establish and manage cross-project ad project-specific advisory groups, in collaboration
with relevant team and/or project leads;
Lead the process to gather and analyze stakeholder input, e.g. through surveys,
interviews, and manage stakeholder inquiries
Support launch preparations and other relevant external events in collaboration with Communications
Develop and execute training strategy for internal and external capacity building on SBTi
standards, with support from Project Team

Essential skills and experience needed:
Experience in convening complex, multi-stakeholder processes, ideally within
sustainability standard-setting processes;
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a culturally and geographically diverse
professional environment
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to make complex technical subjects
accessible to non-expert audiences
Strong understanding of the drivers for and practical challenges of implementing climate
action strategies across businesses’ operations and value chains
Excellent project management skills
A relevant university degree
High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable criteria:
Experience working in stakeholder engagement in a standards body
Experience in science-based targets, greenhouse gas accounting, preferably in line with
the GHG Protocol, net-zero and corporate climate strategy
Understanding of corporate climate action space

This full-time role is based in Europe, North America, or the UK. The salary for this role will
depend on location and experience level. This role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months with the
possibility of extension and it will be reporting to the Head of Standards.
Interested candidates should be legally allowed to work in the countries specified. The SBTi
cannot sponsor any working visas.
