Job description

As a 4th Class Stationary Engineer in our Plant Operations group, you will be responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, and optimization of essential CBN facility equipment. Our products (bank notes, passports, identification cards, etc.) are part of Canada’s critical infrastructure and our ability to meet delivery schedules depends upon our facilities’ operational readiness.

What You Will Do

  • Operate key facility assets including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, air handlers, packaged HVAC units, fans, and blowers;
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions;
  • Perform routine equipment preventative maintenance;
  • Monitor and adjust boiler feedwater and cooling tower chemistry as needed;
  • Maintain maintenance records; and
  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Power (Operating) Engineer 4th Class Certification TSSA
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following:
  • Operating Engineers Act (O.Reg 219/01)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Completion of high school and a regulated apprenticeship program in stationary or power engineering OR on-the-job training and correspondence courses OR a college training program in stationary or power engineering
  • Working knowledge of the following:
  • Boilers, chillers, compressors, etc.
  • Building automation systems
  • Water treatment systems

Skills and Abilities

  • Problem solving skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights (from a ladder)

Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.
