SUMMARY OF THE POSITION :

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing and Sustainable Procurement, the strategic buyer will support the various category managers in the execution of lower-value corporate or multi-entity files and projects. The incumbent will be called upon to participate in the establishment of different category strategies through various forms of analysis (i.e., the evolution of products or services offered, benchmarking and market monitoring, and identifying current and potential suppliers in the category).

The incumbent mainly leads corporate or multi-entity procurement files related to major suppliers and business projects, manages the business relationship with suppliers, the RFP process and contract award based on organizational requests, project activities, operational needs and established processes. The strategic buyer follows up with internal customers while creating value for the company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop procurement strategies for goods and services in support of category managers for corporate or multi-entity files of lower monetary value;

Manage the business relationship with current and future suppliers assigned to him/her, as well as the organization’s needs (products and/or services);

Lead or participate in the process of requesting proposals, negotiating agreements and resolving disputes on the best possible terms within the timeframe required by the organization. Generate value for the organization (savings, avoided costs, etc.);

Prepare documentation for executive committees or selection committees for the awarding of contracts and according to approval levels;

Liaise with key applicants;

Represent the department at multidisciplinary meetings related to assigned projects;

Search for new products (and/or services), equivalent and new suppliers;

Collaborate with requisitioners to identify their business needs and prepare KPIs for their purchasing category in line with their objectives;

Collaborate in the establishment of total cost of ownership models with the support of internal experts.

REQUIREMENTS

ACADEMIC TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree in administration or a related discipline, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 to 5 years experience in procurement.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

Very good understanding of contractual language;

Good teamwork and interpersonal skills;

Customer service oriented;

Autonomous and structured;

Very good knowledge of French and English, both spoken and written. The candidate must be able to communicate in English with suppliers in other Canadian provinces or in the United States;

Excellent ability to communicate ideas effectively;

Good knowledge of Microsoft office, Google Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MS Project) and knowledge of the Workday financial management system (purchasing and inventory modules) would be a strong asset;

Must possess a valid driver’s license, as travel may be required;(below 5%)

Good knowledge of financial markets and key indicators followed by the financial community;

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders;

Proactive, shows initiative and pays close attention to detail;

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines and to get involved in projects outside one’s comfort zone.
