The Global Strategic Sourcing Services (GSSS) group is the sub-team responsible for the indirect sourcing activity within this group.GSSS contributes directly to the bottom-line performance of the company through reducing the costs McDonald’s corporate entities or franchisees would otherwise absorb. This team consults with leaders throughout the company, supporting pivotal initiatives & needs that are driving McDonald’s into the future.The RoleThe role is part of the Technology Sourcing team and is a critical role within the team responsible for solutions that are deployed globally, to our international operated markets and direct licensee markets.The Supervisor is tasked with supporting the category management, from development to execution, of the technology solutions. Within this role you are expected to partner with multiple corporate level functions (including but not limited to the Global Technology, Global HR, and Global Finance & other sub-teams). A key focus for this role holder will be supporting the development of a suite of standard policies, requirement gathering frameworks, selection documentation & agreements suitable for deployment in this category area.Supervisors within the Technology Sourcing team are expected to deliver across the following responsibility areas:Stakeholder engagement & relationship management:Examples include:

  • Capacity planning of/for indirect resources (including project team-based resources)
  • Ongoing relationship management of relevant global partners & team members
  • Partnering with relevant members of the business teams
  • Alignment with Supply Chain or business resources at a market-level or segment leadership based resources

Category management development:

  • Developing a spend analysis for portfolio of solutions (including actualized/estimated spend)
  • Creating and maintaining category hierarchy (category tree structure)
  • Keeping abreast of supplier information, industry news and critical developments with category space
  • Working through risk identification and mitigation plans for category
  • Highlighting innovation opportunities and competitor insights
  • Building cases for “should-do” opportunities independently developed for agreement with stakeholders

Sourcing capability development:

  • Contributing to/participating in Supply Chain team meetings/events
  • Updating or adapting templates & tools as needed for successful execution of the role
  • Planning & implementing category specific policies (such as mandatory asks/ways of working or contract terms)
  • Defining category specific requirements baselines
  • Researching procurement and sourcing best practice/new thinking
  • Development of presentation materials
  • Stakeholder training and awareness materials
  • Reporting savings and/or value achievements
  • Updating agreed pricing documentation, etc.

Projects & initiatives:

  • Leading sourcing/provider selection events
  • Completing discovery activities (such as market landscape, business readiness assessments, etc.)
  • Project initiation tasks (stakeholder training sessions, project planning with PMO resources, etc.)
  • Managing project team delivery in-line with responsibility alignment
  • Event (RFx) materials build out, sign-off and issue
  • Hosting supplier briefing sessions or supplier presentations

Tactical – Non-Project based work:

  • Providing guidance/inputs on renewals where no commercial negotiations are required
  • Updating SOWs where no major commercial effort is needed
  • Processing administrative tasks (meeting scheduling, etc.)

  • Demonstrable experience of the development of category strategies
  • Prior experience of working with & across different markets and cultures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of structuring agreements
  • Prior experience in technology supply chain or software-focused roles is a plus
  • Experience managing large scale, global projects
  • Comfortable working with leadership teams
  • Bachelors’ Degree in IT, Business, Supply Chain, or STEM fields required, MBA
  • C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) or C.I.P.S. (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) designation is a plus.

Good to Know:This role can be based remotely within Canada, occasional travel to our Toronto office will be required.
