We are hiring a Supervisor in the Mortgage Accounting – Settlements department!

The Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Mortgage Accounting, the Supervisor, Mortgage Accounting-Settlements is responsible for training and overseeing the Settlement Analysts and their daily tasks. The Supervisor, Mortgage Accounting-Settlements will provide ongoing support to the Manager, Mortgage Accounting and work on special projects as required.

What you will do:

  • Ensure teams have a solid understanding of company policies, investor conditions, product knowledge, departmental procedures, performance and service expectations
  • Provide direction on policy interpretation and specific training to team members in procedures and key skill areas
  • Encourage participation from team members in continuous procedural and performance improvement
  • Monitor the team tasks and workflow ensuring adequate coverage and tasks completed, escalate issues to the Manager, Mortgage Accounting
  • Maintain a positive relationship with Investor contacts
  • Review and verify accuracy of settlement and renewal purchase reports
  • Prepare settlement reports, ledger reconciliations, cash clearing reconciliations, as required during staff absences
  • Review and approve electronic disbursements as required
  • Complete monthly quality assurance spot checks of completed work on assigned staff
  • Perform quarterly coaching sessions, identifying individual strengths, performance gaps , communicate and provide training and action plans for improved performance
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and set performance goals, conduct checkpoint meetings with individual team members throughout the year
  • Participate in monthly team meetings to provide updates on team performance, communicate policy and procedure changes, and link company and department goals to individual performance
  • Be fully conversant in Mortgage Accounting roles to participate in rotation of roles with Supervisor, Reconciliations and Manager, Mortgage Accounting
  • Respond to all inquiries within established turnaround times
  • Assist in the recruitment process, screen resumes, participate in the interview process
  • Complete projects and other duties as assigned by Manager and Director & Team Lead, Mortgage Accounting

The Requirements Needed:

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Accounting experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Optimus experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, capacity to learn new technologies
  • Strong reconciliation and audit skills
  • Demonstrated ability to:
