Exact duties vary depending on the individual needs of the student but may include a combination of note taking, examination support (amanuensis) and assistance with developing organisational and time management skills.Applicants should be educated to GCSE level with particular emphasis on English or A Level standard as a minimum. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to write and speak clearly in English. Clear handwriting and advanced word processing skills are essential. English grammar, punctuation and spelling must be of the highest standard.Applications are welcome from individuals with a relevant qualification in specialist note taking and from those willing to attend a week long training course to achieve this qualification. If you don’t already have a qualification, the OCN course may be offered free of charge for successful candidates on two Wednesdays and two Thursdays 10am-4pm end of June/beginning of July. Two of these at least will be in person. If the OCN course is not offered, candidates will be given a notetaking task and an interview.Depending on the role undertaken and completion of the OCN course, there are currently two pay rates: £14.22 and £19.74 per hour.All posts are sessional – there are no guaranteed minimum hours.
