For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see .JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Penn State’s Sustainability Institute is looking to hire a Penn State student intern who will work for at least the remainder of the academic years of 2024-’25 and ’25 to ’26.This student will assist Penn State Sustainability’s efforts to support the integration of sustainability across Penn State’s curriculum, support best practices for informal and formal community climate change and sustainabilityengagement and education, and setting up workshops for sustainability education and climate planning. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge of sustainabilityeducation, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, environmental justice, community engagement, and informal community education. Candidates should have a record of accomplishment on sustainability.Duties may include, but are not limited to: supporting the development of sustainability courses in partnership with university partners, reporting on results of sustainabilityeducation to student, faculty, staff, and administrative stakeholders including University leadership and government agencies, supporting workshops for sustainability education, visiting undergraduate classes to communicate about sustainability and to recruit for sustainability education initiatives, assisting in the logistics of external-facing programming for climate action planning.The successful candidate will:
- Be a team player, with a GPA above 3.0, and superb written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Be a quick learner, able to manage and organize multiple sources of information, synthesize multiple sources of information into reports, lessons, course content, outreach activities, and possible recommendations.
- Have a record of interest in and knowledge about environmental justice, sustainability, educational programming, and policy.
- Maintain a log of goals, activities, and objectives.
- Have a driver’s license and able to drive to locations using a campus vehicle.
This paid internship will be for up to 20 hours per week throughout the school year with the possibility for more hours during the summer. Our offices are in the Land and Water Research Building near the outdoor track.
