Job description
As a Systems Developer, you will be assigned various tasks that will provide an opportunity for hands-on learning under the guidance of one of our Senior Systems Developers. You will gain invaluable experience in developing reports, database design and hardware configuration. That said, we don’t want to pre-define the role too much as we encourage our people to think beyond job descriptions and explore areas of interest in which they demonstrate an aptitude. What You Will Do
- Provision and deploy new servers in a consistent fashion though the use of a Puppet Master server. Create and manage virtual machine Linux servers. Create and maintain Puppet classes for automated server and software deployment. Perform testing to ensure functionality. Ensure backwards capability with existing server infrastructure.
- Provide operational support for Linux servers in a development and test-lab environment. Manage a set of Linux servers. Analyze server logs to assist in troubleshooting software problems. Research and propose solutions to operational issues. Gather performance metrics and tune server performance.
- Create and maintain a set of BIRT reports that will provide insight into the transactional data stored in a relational database. Understand and analyze reporting requirements against a target database schema (Postgres/Oracle). Perform unit-tests on reports. Implement bug fixes. Conduct stress testing and performance testing.
- Evaluate current schema suitability and adapt the design to fit changing requirements. Implement database changes. Document changes to database objects. Provide database support to software developers and testers. Monitor database performance.
Minimum Qualifications

- System administration (Linux, Windows Server, Windows 10)
- Configuration management and automation tools (e.g. Puppet, VMware)
- Virtualization and backup tools
- Monitoring and performance metrics
- Container technologies (e.g. Docker)
- Install and configure new databases
- Performance tuning incl. SQL optimization
- Perform backups and restores
- Database replication configuration
- Storage management
- Database: PostgreSQL, Oracle,
- Linux, Windows Server

Mandatory Requirements
- Travel to some customer sites to install hardware and infrastructure
