Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The National Tax Services Team specializes in supporting Estate & Trust Services Relationship Managers by providing efficient, accurate, and quality client service related to tax return preparation. Key client service elements include T1, and T3 tax return preparation and support related to account administration. As a Tax Officer, you will be accountable for consistently delivering high-quality tax returns, demonstrating attention to detail, and ensuring that key filing deadlines are met. Teamwork, collaboration, and developing interpersonal relationships are important skills for success. For more information, please visit:What will you do?

  • Prepare and review income tax returns (T1/Terminal T1, T3, T3010)
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve inquiries, discrepancies, etc. as they arise, and guide and assist other staff in this process.
  • Research tax-related issues to answer queries and provide colleagues and RBC partners with accurate and timely information.
  • Collect relevant information and maintain documentation of account activities, informing RBC partners of account issues and their resolution.
  • Ensure client expectations are met by respecting key deliverables.
  • Respond to calls and correspondence from external parties promptly and professionally.
  • Use effective written, verbal, and electronic communication to foster solid working relationships with other team members and to develop and maintain strong relationships with RBC partners.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members and participate in the training and evaluation of new and seasonal staff.

What do you need to succeed?Must Have

  • 3 – 5 years of related tax experience, including preparation of T1 and T3 tax returns
  • University Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience
  • Strong working knowledge of taxation requirements for estate and trust products
  • Excellent written/verbal/electronic communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel

Nice to Have

  • Accounting designation or equivalent
  • Canadian Securities Course or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Estate and Trust Law and Administration
  • Royal Trust, Tax Officer accreditation or equivalent
