5 x permanent posts / 3 x 1-year fixed term postsTeaching Assistant Level 236hrs per week / 46-weeks per yearGrade D / SCP 5 – 6 / £ 23,500 to £23,893plus SEN Allowance £1,455 (Pro-Rata, per annum)[Actual salary £20,788 to £21,136 plus SEN £1,287]Required 1st September 2024About the school:Knowsley Central School is a special school in the Knowsley Local Authority that currently provides specialist education for 106 primary aged children aged 4 – 11 with severe and/ or profound learning difficulties.A large number of children that attend our school have additional needs such as ASC, medical/ physical needs and communication needs that can often present as challenging behaviour.With effect from September 2024, our school pupil numbers will increase to 126 NOR to support SEND in the borough.In school’s most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2019, school was judged as “outstanding” which is our 5th consecutive ‘outstanding’ judgement. The report includes statements such as:

About the role:Knowsley Central School is seeking to appoint Level 2 Teaching Assistants for pupils who have a diagnosis of ASC, medical/ physical needs and communication needs that can often present as challenging behaviour.An ability to support challenging behaviour and provide personal care will be required.The successful candidates will:
- Be a positive and proactive member of the team.
- Establish and maintain an appropriate learning environment.
- Assist in planning activities and preparing materials to help children access the curriculum.
- Contribute to lesson planning, evaluating, and monitoring pupil responses.
- Have the ability to deliver lessons that have been planned by a teacher to a whole class independently.
- Support the delivery of agreed learning activities/learning programmes.
- Assist in monitoring children’s progress, assessing achievement and recording results and observations, sharing outcomes with the class teacher.
- Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required, to the teacher on pupil achievement, progress, and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.
- Have good communication skills with well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Have good organisational skills.
