Teaching Assistant Level 3 Trinity Fields Job description
Teaching Assistant Level 3 – 35hrs
Trinity Fields is a special school for pupils aged between 3 and 19 years, with severe and complex needs. We serve the County Borough of Caerphilly as well as having some pupils from neighbouring authorities. Trinity Fields is highly regarded by parents/carers and professionals alike.
We were inspected by Estyn (June 2019) who judged us to be EXCELLENT in all 5 inspection areas; in addition to this we have been categorised as a “Green” school since the Welsh Government introduced national categorisation of schools.
This is a very exciting time for the school as we continue to develop formal partnerships with the local authority and mainstream schools with specialist resource bases in order to improve the outcomes for pupils with ALN across the County Borough. Additionally formal consultation has started about the building of a multi-million pound extension that will see state of the art facilities to support some of the local authority’s most vulnerable and complex children and young people. This post either could be at the main site or at one of our satellite provisions meaning you could be based part of the week at our main site and part of the week at a satellite class.
We are committed to providing a highly individualised and inclusive education to all our pupils, with an emphasis upon meeting their individual needs and developing their strengths and interests within a supportive and nurturing environment.
We are a Rights Respecting School. We are firmly committed to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and our pupils are central to all that we do at Trinity Fields. Estyn stated that, “Pupils’ high levels of wellbeing and attitudes to learning are an outstanding strength. Nearly all pupils play an active and influential role in contributing to their learning and shaping the life and work of the school. Over time, nearly all develop as enthusiastic learners who enjoy coming to school and acquire a strong understanding of their rights and responsibilities”.
Pupils are looking to appoint a teaching assistant who is:
- fair, friendly and can work with their teachers to help them learn in lots of different ways;
- fun and will listen to and act upon their views;
- positive role models who let them know when they are doing well.
Governors are looking to appoint a teaching assistant who is:
- Experienced, highly committed and enthusiastic;
- Able to work effectively with pupils and the staff team;
- Flexible, well organised and understand the needs of pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties
The person appointed will need to have experience of working with children with severe and/or complex learning needs within specialist settings. This post could either be at the main site or at one of our satellite provisions.
Your letter of application MUST address ALL of the ESSENTIAL criteria, as detailed in the person specification.
The successful applicant will benefit from a full induction programme and ongoing support. You will also have access to our comprehensive continuing professional development programme.
