Department Overview

TD Wealth Operations is part of Wealth Shared Services and is the operational engine of TD Wealth. Wealth Operations supports all TD Wealth distribution channels, TD Mutual Funds, TD Asset Management, and TD Securities. TD Wealth Operations goal is to be recognized as an industry leader in Operational Excellence; providing Legendary Partner and Client experience leading by best employee experience, focusing on process and productivity enhancement and effectively managing risks and controls.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Canadian investor taxation is an asset
  • Experience with T5008/T5/T3/Split Corps/T5013/R3/R15/R16/NR4 tax production
  • People management experience is an asset
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities within a highly demanding environment
  • Ability to interpret and apply tax regulations to reporting and remitting
  • An established track record of providing exceptional customer service
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements during tax season
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes and sound infrastructure to achieve a strategic balance of risk and return
  • Provide people management leadership by recruiting and developing top talent

Job Details

  • The Team Manager is responsible for the oversight of 7 team members (with added agency staff for tax season) who specialize in Canadian tax reporting, including daily reconciliation of applicable tax accounts.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual health check reports to assist in the accuracy of annual reporting; extensive tax knowledge is essential to validate calculation samplings.
  • Perform annual user acceptance testing (UAT) prior to production
  • Liaison with the business’ to coordinate business specific tax requirements for customers
  • Liaison with respective vendors throughout the year to test and produce tax documents
  • Accountable to ensure all regulatory filings are completed and mailed prior to the prescribed mail dates.
  • Identify process improvements or regulatory changes and prepare a project request document if required and work with the project manager to ensure project objectives, timelines and budget are being met.
  • Ensure any inquiry is managed within the prescribed timelines and follow the escalation protocol if required.
  • Coaching and development, coordination of comprehensive cross training activities, oversight of the Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), compliance and ensuring high levels of service delivery are provided to partners and clients, including ciCEI results by ensuring all Ticketing, PISO inquiries and telephone calls are being responded to within prescribed timelines.
  • Continuous review of policies and procedures to ensure risks are identified and mitigated with appropriate, documented controls that ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Promote and support a work environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism in a time sensitive and deadline based environment.
  • Where requested, provide input on complex Corporate Action payments, Income and Mutual Fund transactions to ensure accurate tax reporting.
  • Represent TD Wealth at Canadian industry tax meetings

Additional Information

Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

  • Undergraduate or Post Graduate degree in Accounting/ Business/Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Tax/ Client Reporting, Wealth Management, Operations, Business Process Improvement/Analysis or related areas supporting lines of business
  • Experience with Alteryx, macros, VBA, advanced excel is an asset
