Job DescriptionSysco GB are currently recruiting for a Technical Compliance Manager to join the Merchandising team on a full time, permanent basis, reporting to the Head of Technical Services, Product Safety & Nutrition.As the Technical Compliance Manager it is your responsibility to develop and enhance Sysco GB compliance to its, and its customers increasingly demanding technical standards including: product risk, product safety, authenticity, integrity, nutritional & legal compliance.This role is offering a hybrid working contract, with most of your time spent from home, however you will be required to meet up a minimum of once per quarter at our Ashford Head Office for team collaboration/ meetings, so you must be located in the South/ South East and in a commutable distance and open to travel.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- To undertake comprehensive awareness of current or emerging legislative and technical issues, by ‘horizon scanning’ of food and non-food events, and report or make recommendations to Sysco GB Technical Leadership Team. Regular monitoring of tools such as ‘FERA’s Horizon Scan’, ‘FIIN’, ‘Food Forensics Newsletter’ and websites such as EFSA, FSA, FSS, Campden BRI.
- To manage the GB central technical team’s Product Safety and Integrity Surveillance Program – encompassing desktop supplier product audits, (e.g. Traceability / Assessments), and comprehensive product testing – to underpin, verify and monitor compliance to our product standards, and to produce regular compliance reports as support to Sysco GB Technical Leadership Team
- To undertake bespoke special surveillance projects in response to industry raised issues
- To support line manager in ensuring timely turn around and accurate responses to any serious or business critical product safety, legislative, regulatory or customer issues / queries, e.g. supplier alerts
- To support line manager in the co-ordination and execution of Central Technical triggered serious product incidents / recalls
- To support in the facilitation of customer / third party head office audits, e.g. BRCGS / MSC / Red Tractor
- To continuously review and audit implementation of Sysco GB major customers technical compliance policies and to monitor against Sysco product standards and policies to ensure compliance, recommending output activity to Sysco GB Technical Leadership Team
- To maintain a regular review and audit of Sysco GB product standards and policies in line with changes to legislation and industry issues using insight/input from the product technology team & customer requirements; and to recommend improvements and updates to the Sysco GB Technical Leadership Team
- To support Sysco GB FSQA teams in undertaking supplier audits, in particular in response to investigations related to product safety or integrity issues
- To support line manager and technical services team by undertaking appropriate customer support service activities
- To deputise for line manager in their absence
About you:The ideal candidate must have a technical background and have a full understanding within a food service / manufacturing fast-paced technical team with a relevant degree in Food Science/Technology. You will have demonstratable industry management experience and knowledge of a broad range of food categories and ideally have knowledge of Oracle Retail Brand product specification data portals. It is key to have excellent communication skills as you will be both customer and supplier focused and be well organised and use effective project management and presentation skills. You will show tenacity and a desire to follow things through to completion, with strong planning and organisational skills, and a high attention to detail. It is highly desirable to have a recognised auditing qualification, and supplier and product management experience.What you’ll receive:
