Two full time posts are available immediately on a permanent basis.Summary of the roleThe University of Exeter wishes to recruit two full-time Licenced Animal Technicians (rodents) to work with academic and technical staff in the University’s Biological Research Facilities. These posts are available on the Streatham Campus immediately on a permanent basis.Main purpose of the job:An essential member of the BSU (Biological Service Unit) team, the post holder will be part of a team, supporting the day-to-day husbandry of animals in the University’s rodent research facilities (BSU), both in terms of maintaining animal husbandry and supporting the operational needs of a multitude of research projects. They will have an active personal licence and be responsible for supporting the BSU Manager in all operations, including animal care, experimental support and health and safety as well as working with personnel and contractors to maintain the facilities.Further information on the University’s research and Policy on the Use of Animals in Research can be found atOrganisational context:The Research Services Division is a key enabler to the delivery of the University’s Strategy 2030, the Research and Impact Strategy, successful REF performances, and meeting research income targets.This role is within the Technical Strategy & Operations part of the Division. We are research and teaching technical staff across the entirety of the University of Exeter. We work in specialist areas across the University and beyond, undertaking and supporting research and teaching and promoting compliance and best practice, in the labs, studios, workshops, and field.The service is comprised of a team of talented individuals who support our teaching and research, and in training the next generation of top scientists.
