Are you ready for a new and challenging role? We are looking for a Training Consultant to be responsible for providing diversified support by consulting, developing, maintaining, and evaluating large, complex training programs and activities within the Canadian Nuclear Laboratory (CNL) organization. Do you have experience leading and participating in training development activities including but limited to; conducting training needs analysis, establishing training requirements, designing and developing training materials and resources including Computer Based Training (CBT), facilitating learning/training sessions, and evaluating training programs?   • Developing and utilizing a comprehensive needs analysis process to determine the needs of a broad range of customers providing flexible, creative solutions in technical and non-technical training areas.
  • Independently, troubleshooting, identifying and recommending solutions to compliance and regulatory training programs by evaluating the performance issues and making recommendations using the Systematic Approach to Training.
  • Developing and implementing training policies and standards that meet industry standards to produce comprehensive and auditable training programs.
  • Identifying training metrics in consultation with client groups that provide insight into training program health.
  • Monitoring training metrics in consultation with client groups to support training compliance.
  • Providing training completion metrics to clients in order to plan and schedule future training activities and aid in the planning of work.
  • Designing and developing course content that addresses identified training gaps, while providing a positive learning experience for trainees.
  • Facilitating multidisciplinary workshops across a broad range of programs to provide guidance and enable training solutions to complex issues.
  • Identifying and evaluating industry best practices and benchmarks. Implement new technologies (i.e., CBT, Web based training) and supporting training techniques to compliment and improve training conducted while working with customers to ensure appropriate training metrics are implemented to gauge the success of initiatives related to behaviors and performance

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • A university degree or College diploma in, Training Development and/or Education, or relevant technical field, plus a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience with at least 2 of those years in a direct training role requiring the application of the principles of a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or an equivalent process.
  • In the absence of post-secondary education, a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a training and development environment, either in an industrial or corporate setting, during which time the candidate has demonstrated the ability to assume the responsibilities described
  • Experience
  • Experience in the development of Computer Based and Web-based training using Storyline 2 and 3 would be an asset.
  • Experience with development and facilitation of remote learning using technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Skype would be an asset.
  • Experience in an engineering, technical/industrial environment, developing training and linking training to business needs and measuring the results would be an asset.
  • Experience in an IT environment, developing training and linking training to business needs and measuring the results would be an asset.
  • Experience working in an environment with high levels of external regulation (CNSC, TSSA, ESDC, etc.) would be an asset.
  • Experience leading large complex projects requiring input and collaboration from a broad range of stakeholders/ customers, often with aggressive timelines is required.
  • Experience in facilitation techniques, coaching, and training delivery
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Project management knowledge, skills and experience. Planning and implementing large training projects.
  • Strong influencing and mentoring skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills enabling effective working partnerships with Team members, internal customers and other professional organizations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with all levels of the company hierarchy.
  • Advanced abilities using computer software such as word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint etc. Storyline 2/3 would be an asset as would Microsoft projects.
  • Knowledge of change management processes to enable effective change management application as it applies to training program management.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the implementation of the full SAT (or equivalent) process, while demonstrating competence in providing innovative training solutions to a broad range of customers to solve business issues and enable performance.
  • Promote and demonstrate CNL’s safety culture and quality commitment both internally and externally.
  • Security clearance eligibility required:
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
